The Christmas Party and Annual Prize Giving
Other clubs around Auckland were again invited to come and share the evening with us, and there was good turnout of people that we see only once in a while. The entertainment this year was provided by a quartet that included our own Peter Smith. They sang a nice selection of songs for us.
Prize giving saw Bruce Chadderton win the John Harding Cup for best newsletter article, Ann Still the Mullenger Trophy for the best talk by an APS member, Brian Marshall the Armstrong Cup for winning the one frame competition, and Peter Dormon the John Tommy Award for most items of interest presented throughout the year.
There was an excellent supper and lots of pleasant conversation to round out a most enjoyable evening. A big thank you to our acting president, Bethel McDivitt, for organising the entertainment.
This is also your editor's chance to thank those who help to make this newsletter possible. Grant and Carol Longley turn my text into something that looks like a newsletter and then print it, Bob Edwards takes the photographs, Bruce Webber prints the address labels, and Hank and Anne Dinesen do the stuffing of the envelopes and licking of the stamps to mail the newsletter out. Without all this assistance the newsletter would not appear.
If anyone feels inclined to write for the newsletter, all contributions will be gratefully received. Items may be long or short. Remember also that we can include short Wanted to Buy or Wanted to Sell items on your behalf as well.
